Democracy Days, Vilnius
I am a new media specialist, blogger, analyst and civil society activist from the Republic of Azerbaijan. I was born in Baku in 1985 and live here.

I have earned my bachelor degree in international relations from Baku State University (2007) and my master degree in diplomacy from the Academy of Public Administration (2010).

I have worked as a research assistant and a junior researcher at Baku-based Center for National and International Studies (CNIS) at various times between 2008 and 2010.

I have also participated in preparation and publication of two books by CNIS – The Baku Oil and Local Communities: A History (ISBN 9789952260373) and Democratic Values in the History of Azerbaijan (ISBN 9789952260427) – and was their Azerbaijani language editor.

I am one of the signatories of Vilnius Declaration, the founding document of Young Leaders Forum of the Community of Democracies.

I am also a graduate of Baku Political Studies Programme (2011) and Moscow School of Political Studies (2011).

New media activities

I've been engaged in new media sphere since 2008. Besides writing blogs in Azerbaijani and English, I have given trainings and consultancy on issues relating to new and social media, blogging and citizen journalism.

I've written for Global Voices Online, a new media project started by Harvard University's Berkman Center for Internet and Society and also for the Frontline Club, an independent journalism organisation based in London.

I took part in a joint project of Global Voices Online with MS Action Aid Denmark aimed at bringing young African and Danish environmental activists into blogosphere and assisting them in their blogging activities.

I have participated in the ANTV project aimed at development of citizen journalism in Azerbaijan and have worked as a communications and new media specialist for the Azerbaijan Media Centre., a project of the International Media Support.

At the moment, I am a project coordinator for the Free Thought University project which was the recipient of the first annual USOSCE Ambassadorial Award for Freedom of Expression over the Internet (2010).
