A Donkey that cost Azerbaijan 18,200 dollars

Do not point to me that I have written the word Donkey with a capital letter, but It cost 18,500 U.S. dollars to the Azerbaijani budget.

Not long ago, as I reported, Azerbaijan has bought a race horse for 1,971,000 euros and granted it to a jockey who lives in a foreign country and by the way, fell from the horse in disgrace in Beijing Olympics.

Now, another shock to Azerbaijani society: according to Turkish daily newspaper Hurriyet which in turn cites Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, starting from 2006, each year Azerbaijani Government spends in average 170,000 U.S. dollars to buy handful of ... donkeys.

Only in 2008, the government has bought 15 donkeys from Turkey. One of them cost 11,500 dollars, while the rest 14 donkeys were purchased for 18,200 dollars each. In total, in 2008 the government allocated 179,700 dollars from the budget for purchasing donkeys.

So, what is the reason for such expensive purchase? Can someone tell us?

An-Lu, actually these are "Turkish" donkeys, and thus cheap. For "German" donkeys they paid 40,000 dollars each. When Emin and Adnan tried to question it, they were beaten and arrested :(

Look at this post.

May be they transport heroine in the donkeys' stomaches?? However, the logic says that they should export.. therefore sell donkeys.
