Make love and war

Azerbaijani news website Lent.az regularly conducts "serious interviews" with people in Azeri showbiz. Untypically, this interviews are not about songs and gossips, but about politics.

And now, the guest of Lent.az was Elariz Mammadoglu, one of the local stars of Azeri showbiz, and self-styled "king of elite weddings".

So what does Elariz think about the solution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem?

I think, the more we have weddings, the quicker will be the remedy for Nagorno-Karabakh. People will marry, bear children and population will increase. Thus, we will win Armenians who are decreasing in numbers.
And what about the global financial crisis? Did it hit Elariz?
I made a good move at the very beginning. First, I announced through my press secretary and TV that I have made a discount[in the prices for singing at weddings]. That was to let people not be afraid and let them approach [to arrange a deal]. If a person doesn't have money, what has he do? Not to marry? And should I insist that you give me 5 thousand [manats]? [...] But in general, the financial crisis has a significant effect. Number of weddings have decreased and we earn less as a result.

Now I know why he wants people to get married. That has nothing to do with solving the NK conflict, but everything with filling his own pockets! ;-)

He says he is stupid in politics, but he sounds like a politician himself :)

To what degree are you interested in politics?

- I am not interested in politics. Back in 2000 they have asked me a question about politics. I answered in such a unique way that, it has became a catchword!I answered then: "I am stupid in politics"

[asked about recent information about politics, he answers:]

- For example, I know that America's president is Barack Obama, Turkey's president is Abdulla Gul, and Azerbaijan's is Ilham Aliyev. [..] Oh my God, I nearly forgot, add this please that France's President is Sarkozy. I like him very much. You know why? Because he is a womanizer.

How real is the solution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem within OSCE's (ATET) framework?

- I don't know what ATET is, but I know that "at" is "horse" and "et" is "meat"

[objected that it is impossible not to hear about OSCE, as they talk about it all day on TV, he answers:]

- What I heard I already said. For example, I know that Barack Obama is from Kenya. Then he moved to America and became the president. I know such things, but don't what anything about OSCE's Minsk Group.
