Azerbaijan: Party leader resigns in a protest

According to Trend News the leader of a small nationalist National Salvation Party, Vugar Bayturan has resigned from his post in a protest against the absence of normal conditions for political activities in Azerbaijan.

Bayturan started his political career with establishing Turkish Nationalist Youth Organisation in 1992; he founded Turkish Nationalist Party in 1998 , and between 2006 and 2008 headed a pro-oppositional "Our Azerbaijan" movement. Bayturan has entered the ranks of National Salvation Party in 2008 and was elected its Chairman in the same year, however the party was unable to get even a headquarter until now.
