Betrayed by BBC

I actually grew up with BBC. I was a loyal audience to its FOUR Services (English-language, Russian, Turkish, Azerbaijani) and I have been a loyal reader of its websites. My radio was 24/7 on BBC FM frequency until our government shut it down this January, and just imagine how I felt betrayed when I read this news piece, actually an apology to the referendum by Tom Esslemont, BBC correspondent which was published yesterday.

Yes, BBC, you betrayed your audience.
As your first Director-General Lord Reith once said: Betrayal and Surrender!

Awful. I wish I could say I was surprised, but sadly, I'm not. The British are especially practiced at pulling the rug out from under at crucial moments. But this is simply ignorant journalism:

I had not been in Baku long before I realised just how popular the Aliyev family is.

Heydar is fondly commemorated in a plethora of giant banners, statues and busts.

Umm, lots of countries have those giant banners, statues and busts--first time out of Britain, Tom??

Ali ,

Would you please elaborate more why you feel betrayed ? I read the article and that seemed OK to me. That's exactly the situation , people are unhappy among themselves, but when approached by somebody they feel its incumbent upon them to state their loyalty to his excellency. AC BAŞIM AĞRIMAZ BAŞIM.
So why do you feel betrayed ., donno
