
The first head of state of ADR, Mammedamin Rasul-zadeh, a journalist-turned-statesman, participated in and passed through five revolutions (1905-1907 Russian, 1906-1911 Iranian Constitutional, 1908-1909 Young Turk Revolution, 1917 February and October Revolutions); founded the first secret Muslim political organization in the Russian Empire, the first Muslim socialist organization in the World, the first modern daily newspaper in Iran, and the first secular and democratic republic in the Muslim East.
His most famous slogan is "Flag once raised would never fall!". But he is also the author of an another famous slogan - "Freedom to people, independence to nations!"
