One old maxim of mine revisited

I have already written about Russian-Georgian war (q.v. Russian-Georgian conflict (2008)) immensely, but still you cannot find one gross fact there - that Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili referred in private to Russia's former President and imcumbent PM Vladimir Putin as "Lilliputin". Thus, it seems that amongst the causes of the latest Georgian-Russian war there was also a personal one - Putin was possibly revenging for Misha's insulting comments.

While being a student at University I used to assert one half-serious maxim that all ideological and other types of "great", "global", "benign" struggles have their founders' personal hatred of each other in their foundations. Even Karl Marx and Mikhail Bakunin, apart from the differences in their views, were very bitter personal enemies!

Therefore, a good fact to consider, and a good maxim to revisit!
